Drummer and percussionist Richard Moore has been performing music since the age
of 14. Being equally at home with rock, jazz, orchestral, music theatre, early
music, world music and session work, his career has taken him on many tours and
resulted in collaborations with many different artists.
Having received two music degrees from the University of Toronto: Bachelor's in
Music Performance (1993) and a Master's degree in Music Performance (1995); as
well as having received post-graduate instruction at the Hochschule for Musik
in Munich (1999). In the field of jazz he has studied with: Phil Nimmons, Paul
Read, Dan Bodanis and Joe LaBarbara.
His performing credits include many sessions in film, television & jingle
work. He has also recorded and performed with pop - rock acts Roberta Flack
& Marilyn McCoo, Sarah Pacheco, Blurred Vision, Blacksmith and Tangier. World music groups
include 'Kekeli' (West African Drumming) and 'Escola de Samba de Toronto'
(Brazilian), and Plakaso (Flamenco/Mediterranean).He has appeared at festivals
in Germany, France, Finland, Switzerland, Lithuania, Canada and the USA and has
also worked with Amnesty International. He has recorded many times for CBC
Radio and television as well as recordings with: Norton Anthology of Western
Music, Toronto International Film Festival (2004), Bavarian State Radio
(Bayerischer Rundfunk 3), Swiss National Radio (DRS 2), Radio France, CJRT FM,
European Broadcasting Union, APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television), BRAVO TV,
NAXOS, CBC, DOREMI, Ecclectic, Tributary, Ellchris and Ecstatic Music record
labels. Mr. Moore has also performed in musicals such as: The Phantom of the
Opera, Miss Saigon, Mama Mia, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,
Jesus Christ Superstar, The Music Man, Peter Pan, Larry's Party, Sweeney Todd,
Fiddler On The Roof, The Last Empress, The Magic Of Love, Aladdin, Wicked, Les
Miserables, Beauty And The Beast, Into The Woods, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber,
Gitango, The Drowsy Chaperone, White Christmas and Ha' Penny Bridge.
